First, I can't believe it's been so long since my last post...time flies!
Recently I had the opportunity to be interviewed by Micky Bedell. She is a photojournalist for the Bangor Daily News and writes for the Made In Maine blog. I can't wait to see what she writes!
Every time something like this happens it reaffirms my artistic path. I'm trying harder all the time to create and do more. And every year it gets better and better. I'm in some good galleries and creating some pretty beautiful things. Life is good. And it's enough!
Until next time...

End Of Summer Madness
Today is one of those rare hot, sticky days. We only get a couple of those in Maine and today is one. The air is thick and you can almost swim through it. But inside the gallery it is air conditioned coolness! Where did the summer go? We are in the midst of closing our gallery, Magenta Magpie, for good. What started off as a pop up shop continued for 3 years. Our time here has been wonderful but it's time for new adventures.
I've been on an earring kick lately. All of a sudden my display seemed a little empty. So I dug thru some of my cabinet drawers and discovered a little bag of vintage glass cabochon pairs. One of my most favorite things to work with is vintage glass. It's so thrilling to discover a little treasure find of vintage glass. Working with it and thinking how each piece was made 50-60 years ago and was just waiting to be made into something beautiful! The last show I was at I noticed at the bottom of a clients check that she had written in the memo line "earrings-beautiful". It made me smile! I love what I do!

Earrings...and a finished old project!
Earrings are one of my favorite things to make. Especially when I score some exquisite vintage pieces to incorporate into them! One pair are foil backed green opal glass. The color is amazing on these! One of my favorites of all the earrings I have made. The little touches of blue really enhance the color I think. I have ordered more in various colors and can't wait to start on them. One is a beautiful raspberry pink color...yum!
The second set are a Montana blue raised with gold etching. I think of these are slightly Egyptian. Probably because of the pyramid shaped glass pieces. There are so many I want to keep for myself? But...I was working on these at the gallery and have a client interested in them. Along with the finished bird piece (pictured below). I'll be sad to see them both go. But I know there are many more beautiful beading adventures in my future. Stay tuned for more new and finished old projects! I'm slowly working thru the pile!
